Jen Armistead
Medical Aesthetic Nurse
About
Jen is an accomplished aesthetic nurse who began her medical career in 2015 after qualifying as a nurse. Her journey started as a Staff Nurse in the Emergency Department (ED) before she progressed to a Senior Staff Nurse role. In March 2021, she was seconded to help run the COVID Vaccination Clinic for staff, and by August 2021, she transitioned into research, focusing on COVID, Critical Care and Emergency Research.
In October 2023, Jen deepened her expertise by enrolling in the Aesthetic L7 Diploma program with Harley Academy, building on her knowledge by completing the Cosmetic Dermatology course April 2024.
Jen became an aesthetic nurse because she wanted to shift her focus from seeing patients on some of the worst days of their lives to being a part of their most joyful moments. In the field of aesthetics, Jen has had the privilege of witnessing patients as they feel more confident and empowered. This transformation is incredibly rewarding, as she assists them on their journey to bettering their health, sense of self, overall well-being, and appearance.
For Jen, being a nurse practitioner in aesthetics goes far beyond just administering Botox injections and fillers. This career allows Jen to build people up with confidence, to truly transform their lives, and to care about them every step of the way. Jen finds immense joy in knowing that she can help someone feel like the very best version of themselves. When individuals feel good about themselves, that positive energy radiates into their everyday lives and positively impacts those around them. It’s so important to take care of ourselves, as doing so strengthens our ability to support our loved ones. After all, we can’t be of use to anyone if we have depleted our own energy by giving it all away. Jen believes that self-care is crucial; it acts as an antidote to stress, helping us build resilience to better cope with life’s challenges.
Additionally, the rise of social media has led to a greater public awareness and understanding of aesthetic and cosmetic treatments, which has helped to normalise and popularise them. However, Jen recognises the concerns that have arisen due to non-medically trained practitioners administering injectable procedures, leading to unfortunate outcomes. This is one reason Jen felt compelled to join the aesthetic practitioners who are committed to restoring the public’s trust in this industry. By setting high standards and embracing transparency and accountability, Jen aims to apply her medical education and expertise to the field of aesthetics. In doing so, Jen aims to contribute to a safer and more respected practice, ensuring that patients feel well cared for and confident in their choices.
